The Pneumatic Positioning System 3nd Generation utilizing a Royal TR Series designed pneumatic actuator with integrated TEMPOSONICS probe for position feedback. Designed for positioning of Rolls.

The system comprises of control board (we offer it loose supply ) but if required we can supply in a control panel, the Cards are usually mounted in sets according to the application.

Proportional valves assembly, valves and pilot filter are mounted on an easy to install Steel bracket.

Temposonic p robe integrated into the Royal Cylinder assembly.

The pneumatic valves are proportional control devices that are driven in tandem to maintain constant control and keep rigidity of the mass being driven. This gives position control and by software setting force control , the control of either force or position can be switched on the fly giving seamless transition between the two.

This system helps to reduce/prevent damage to the roll , material being processed and the machine structure in typical roll applications.This positioning system is also used on pickers and side rolls and some belt positioners.

The loop is closed by use of the controller which receives an analog command signal from a PLC (0 - 10 vdc)

Force mode on the Rev4 board can be initiated by the use of a discrete 24vdc input, 0 - 10 vdc analog feedback from the controller is standard.However to utilise this a +_15vdc power supply must be used to power the Card.

The system is an economical solution for driving pneumatic cylinders moving masses in CLOSED loop control . Something that is generally hard to achieve with pneumatics due to the compressibility of air.Systems in the field in use, range from 3" Bore cylinders to 8" Bore cylinders moving masses from 100lbs to 1000lbs.

Electrical power required is +15v for control card and L series Probe,( +_15vdc for Analog feedback ),24vdc supply to drive the valves ( 150 ma Total )

Benefits of this system are:

Faster positioning of the roll, less air consumed , less shock put on the structure and so less breakages , a smoother and quieter machine , increased productivity.

Applications at present are:

Board Edger infeed and outfeed Rolls	(position control)
Gang Edger infeed and outfeed Rolls	(position and force control)
Picker positioning	(position control)
Side rolls on Cant cut.	(position and force control)
Resaw roll positining	(position control)

Other application areas are spike rolls , VDA rolls , sawbox rolls etc.
